The long-awaited short list

You know that feeling you get when you wake up in the morning and the sun seems to be shining a little brighter? You know it’s going to be a great day.

Every year, at the beginning of July, MM&M reveals their short list—5 selected pieces of work, in various categories, that will compete for the gold at the October event.

I had that sun-shiny feeling the other day, holding my breath for 10 seconds as I scanned through the short list to see if precisioneffect showed up. And sure enough, it did. YES, YES, and wait, one more, YES! The three short-listed pieces:

  2. Exact Sciences, Cologuard® for Best Multi-Channel Campaign (Large Product)

It has been amazing to see the character, little CG, change the standard of care in colon cancer screening. Check him out.

Our migraineurs are challenging the status quo while introducing a novel device that delivers medication directly where it’s needed. 

Upon receiving such good news, what usually follows is rapid breathing that might (or might not) involve clapping by yourself in your office. You send the link to everyone you know, post on Facebook and LinkedIn, and run to congratulate the teams whose sweat has permeated the work. For a minute, you enjoy that sense of accomplishment and reward that comes with working in one of the most intense creative industries.

These awards are given to work that is not only surprising and creative, but most importantly making a difference in the world. And for some, awards are everything. For others, they are a pretentious show off. For us, they boost our excitement as a team, help us bring new talent on board, and validate the work we do as something truly meaningful.

Congrats to all those who made the short list. Next up, the long wait until October when the winners are announced. I can’t wait until I get to hold my breath again to see if our name is the one on the board.
